American Hip-Hop Singers Sample f(x)’s “Rum Pum Pum Pum” in Their New Song!

American hip-hop trio Injury Reserve featured a guitar sample from f(x)‘s “Rum Pum Pum Pum” in their new song “Girl With The Gold Wrist” off their latest album “Floss.”

Injury Reserve includes rappers Steppa J. Groggs and Ritchie With a T, as well as producer Parker Corey. The three are based in Arizona, and have been highly commended by American music critics.

From the first listen itself, the similarities between the song and “Rum Pum Pum Pum” are immediately evident. In hip-hop, artists are known to sample parts of popular songs from other genre as a sign of respect and admiration. The beat of “Rum Pum Pum Pum” matches very well with the rap in “Girl With the Gold Wrist,” and perhaps this is just the beginning of KPop gaining a foothold in the Western mainstream.

What do you think of the similarities between the two songs?
