TIME magazine compiles a list of the hundred most influential people from around the globe every year. The candidates for the list come from all spheres of life and may be athletes, politicians, artists, leaders and innovators.
For this year’s list, two K-Pop acts made the candidate list – Big Bang and 2NE1’s CL!
There are currently a total of 127 candidates on the list including several prominent names like Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Narendra Modi, Usain Bolt, Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Priyanka Chopra to name a few.
TIME magazine has also given a brief introduction to all it’s candidates on the voting page, alongside the candidate’s picture.
Big Bang’s picture came with the caption – “With One Direction on hiatus, this South Korean group has been hailed as ‘the biggest boyband in the world’, even booking arenas in the U.S. without a Hot 100 hit thanks to their fervent fanbase.”
2NE1’s leader CL was introduced with the caption – “The singer has graduated from one-fourth of hit South Korean girl group 2NE1 to front-row prescence at fashion shows and solo artist in her own right thanks to songs like ‘Doctor Pepper’ and ‘Hello Bitches’.”
At the time of writing this article, Big Bang is ranked at #4 and CL at #27.
