Recently, the star of “Descendants of the Sun” Song Joong Ki became the Ambassador for Korean Tourism and adding on to it, the places where the drama has been shot, will be set as tourist spot.
In the drama, the place Urk that has been shown is actually an old coal mine in Taebaek city of Gangwon Province. The barracks and medicube were set up for shooting and was demolished once the shooting ended but now as the drama is gaining so much popularity, it has been decided to re-create the same atmosphere once again for the tourists to see and relive the beautiful moments.
On April 6, OSEN, a news outlet got the information from Taebaek’s tourism information center about the discussion for the same. The re-creation will be concluded by April end while the complete process will end by June and will soon be open for the tourists.
Jeongseon is the other shooting location which is also being considered to be transformed into a tourism spot. The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will soon start off with promotional campaigns with China, Japan and other south east Asian countries.
