Can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Namaste India! My name is Jang Hanbyul, former frontman of the band LED Apple.
How will you introduce your music to a new fan?
I strived for versatility with my solo career but I think I can introduce my music as being personal in nature as well as being based on my past experiences.
What are your feelings on visiting India when it is considered less popular among K-pop idols and industries?
I completely disagree that Korean artists consider India a less desired location. I was ecstatic at first to be blessed and lucky enough to be invited to see my fans. One of my closest friends went to India on holiday just earlier this year and told me it was a fantastic experience. I am planning on having a lot of fun when I visit.
What kinds of situations or factors inspire you while writing or composing a song?
I think most of my songs are based on my past experiences with my personal hardships and relationship with the people around me.
What is Han-Byul’s definition for music?
Music for me is a way of expressing my attitude and emotions in a free and positive way which people can sympathise with.
Can you tell us about your journey as a K-pop star in this industry?
To be honest, it has not all been a one-way path to success. I had trouble making my debut with the company I was signed to. There, I had to be patient whilst I did not actually get the opportunity to release an album. At the moment, I am lucky enough to be doing what I love most and performing in front of my fans.
What kinds of genre or style you have in mind to try for your upcoming projects?
I am working on another OST at the moment but I cannot tell you which upcoming drama it is. I have already recorded a new song which we are planning to release in the near future. It is quite a deep and emotional song which is based on one of my past relationships.
Are there any particular artists you would like to collaborate with in the near future?
I would love to collaborate with the artist DEAN. He is definitely one of my favorite artists at the moment.
As a K-pop idol, what do you think is the most important trait an idol must possess?
I think a true and sincere passion for music and a willingness to work hard for success is one of the rarest and most important traits.
What would you be doing right now if you are not a K-Pop star?
I am 80 percent sure that I would still be pursuing a career in dentistry or medicine since it was the course I was enrolled in university before I got into music.
Who inspires you every time to preserve your career or whom do you look up to or listen to during hard times?
My parents are the biggest factors in which I can continue to pursue and preserve my musical career. I am very grateful that they have been so understanding and patient during my life, particularly since my decision not to have a career in medicine. They have always been supportive during my life and have respected my opinions and decisions.
If you are interviewing Han-Byul right now, what is that one question you will ask him?
When do you plan to get married and when are you planning to come to India again?
