EXO and BTS Break Oricon Chart Records

Power boy groups EXO and BTS break records on Japan's Oricon chart

Power boy groups EXO and BTS continue to show off their popularity with their most recent success – breaking (more) Oricon records!

EXO released the Blu-ray and DVD of their concert tour ‘EXO PLANET #2 – The EXO’luXion in Japan‘ on March 9 and it’s sales have ranked #1 for ‘Individual DVD Sales‘, ‘Individual Blu-ray Sales‘ and for ‘Combined DVD/Blu-ray Sales‘ for the second week of March!

This is in fact EXO’s second time topping the Oricon weekly’s Blu-ray sales chart as their first concert tour ‘EXO from ‘EXOPLANET #1 – The Lost Planet in Japan‘ ranked #1 on the same chart back in March 2015.

This makes the boys the first foreign male artist to top the chart twice. The group also ties with labelmate Girls’ Generation with the overall record for foreign artists. Oricon has also stated that EXO are the first foreign male artist to top both DVD and Blu-ray sales charts simultaneously!

Adding a feather in their cap, the boys of BTS recently began their latest set of Japanese promotions and released their sixth Japanese single, “RUN (Japanese Ver.)” on March 15 which proceeded to rank #1 on Oricon’s ‘Daily Single Chart‘ and sold 53,000 copies on it’s first day of release!

It was also announced that BTS ranked #1 on the Japanese Tower Record’s ‘Pre-order Ranking‘ and both online and offline daily singles sales charts with their sixth Japanese single! The Japanese concert DVD that was simultaneously released alongside their new single also rose to #1 in various areas.

With this record under their belt, BTS has now ranked #1 on the Oricon charts three times! The first two times were for their Japanese singles “For You” and “I Need You” (Japanese Ver)

Congratulations to EXO,BTS and Girls Generation!
