A five member first generation band, Sechskies is back in the limelight with their recent appearance on the reality show ‘Infinity Challenge.’ And with this coming up, another news surfaced that they have officially signed up with YG Entertainment.
Yang Hyun Suk had posted a picture posing in a restaurant with the members of Sechskies on Instagram on May 2 with the caption “FOREVER Sechs Kies #1st reunion in 16 years #REUNITEDAFTER16YEARS.”
Most probably, the picture was taken after their concert ended in ‘Infinity Challenge.’ As member Eun Ji Won was busy shooting for a show “New Journey to the West,” he was not in the photo. This was their second meeting which suggested that some strong connection was building up and indeed it ended with a great result.
On May 10, YGE shared that they have established a contract with Sechskies and the band will carry out projects under YGE. Member Go Ji Yong, who is now a business man hasn’t signed up but will continue to perform with the band on various occasions.
Sechskies debuted in 1997 under Daesung Entertainment on KBS World ‘Music Bank‘ and unfortunately disbanded on May 20, 2000. After 16 years, they united back for a concert on April 14, 2016 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium for the ‘ToToGa Season 2‘ Special by Infinity Challenge. All the members were overwhelmed on receiving such a great response from 6,000 fans after such a long time.
The group has planned to hold a concert at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul and will soon be featuring in a number of reality shows as well.
They might even release an album in the coming months so stay tuned for more!
