Former KARA member Han Seungyeon will be releasing her first new song since the group’s disbandment in January earlier this year, a digital single entitled “I Am Her” (working title). It will be a medium tempo track featuring the acoustic guitar. She will be collaborating with producing team Sweetune, with whom she has worked with in the past. “I Am Her” will be released on July 25 at midnight KST via online music sites. It will be available for preorder starting July 15.
As for Seungyeon’s other activities this year, she recently wrapped up a successful fan meeting in Japan, and has also been cast as a lead in JTBC’s new drama “Age Of Youth” (working title), which will premiere on July 22.
Veteran girl group KARA, consisting of members Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Goo Hara and Heo Youngji, and former members Sunghee, Nicole Jung and Kang Jiyeong; debuted under DSP Media in 2007 and enjoyed a nine year long run, producing massive hits like “Honey”, “Mister”, “Lupin”, “Jumping”, “Step”, “Pandora”, “Mamma Mia”, and “Cupid”. However the group disbanded in January earlier this year due to unsuccessful contract negotiations. The group also opened up the way for KPop globally by becoming the first Korean girl group to hold arena tours in Japan, and enjoyed international success, arguably becoming Japan’s favorite Korean girl group.
Regarding the status of KARA, former member Park Gyuri stated earlier this year that the group hasn’t “really disbanded”, stating, “The honest truth is just that we’ve split up into different labels, but the simplest way to describe that is by saying that we’ve ‘disbanded,’ so people who aren’t fully aware seem to be expressing it as if we’ve really disbanded... We’ve been talking about finding a good opportunity to release an album and promote as KARA.”
Are you looking forward to Han Seungyeon’s solo release? Would you like all the members to reunite and promote again as KARA?
