South Koreans celebrated 97th anniversary of ‘The March First Movement’, also known as the ‘Sam-ill movement’. Every first day of March Koreans take some time to commemorate those who fought for the nation’s independence from Japan’s colonial rule in March 1919.
The March First Movement was one of the earliest display of Koreans resistance to the occupation of the Japanese empire and many Koreans lost lives to Japanese as the protested to the Korea’s freedom.
To show love for their country and the enduring spirit of the Korea, many celebrities celebrated the historic day by posting and sharing the national flag of Korea.
Big Bang G-Dragon, Actor Rain, A-Pink, Nine Muses , M-Sonic and many others showed their patriotism by sharing national flag via Twitter and Instagram.
The March First Independence Movement definitely lives on in the hearts and minds of the Korean People. It was the first ever peoples movement in Korean history that combated any form of discrimination, prejudice and violence. March 1st is designated as a national holiday in both North and South Korea in order to remember the brave and persistent people who have risked their lives to fight for Independence.
