YG Entertainment’s new boy group ‘iKON’ once again proved why they are termed as “Monster Rookies” by their fans, as they received the ‘Rookie of The Year’ at this years, ‘5th Gaon KPOP Chart Awards.’
iKON made their official debut in 2015 with the digital release of their first single “My Type” from their first studio album with ‘Welcome Back’ but the members were well known as Team B pre-debut due to the survival shows “Win: Who Is Next” (2013) and “Mix & Match” (2014).
iKON also won ‘Artist of The Year’ for the month of September and performed ‘My Type’ without AR at the awards show, showing their strong vocals as well as ‘Dumb and Dumber.

For those who did not know, the ‘Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ is held by South Korea’s national music record chart, Gaon Chart every year! This award recognize songs, albums, and artists as well as stylists, choreographers, producers, composers, and other professionals in the music industry and the winners are thus determined according to the previous year’s Gaon year-end chart of sales.
