It looks like SBS’s popular TV audition program ‘K-Pop Star‘ will be ending it’s run with its upcoming sixth season.
An official press conference was held on 9th May, attended by the show’s three current judges – JYP Entertainment‘s Park Jin Young, YG Entertainment‘s Yang Hyun Suk and Antenna Music‘s Yoo Hee Yeol.
Park Jin Young revealed that the ultimate singing survival program would be wrapping up with its upcoming sixth season, and added that at the end of the fifth season the Producers and Judges of the show held a meeting where they agreed that it was best for the contestants to end the program with the Season 6. Hence “K-Pop Star” will be ending after a six year run and six seasons!
‘K-Pop Star‘ aired its first show on December 14, 2011. Since its first airing, the show has produced a number of seasons and online sensations as videos of their performances spread across the internet. The competition series revolved around contestants participating in worldwide auditions held by three talent agencies of South Korea to find their next potential K-pop stars. The final winner debuts with the company of his or her choice along with the cash prize of three hundred million Won!
The show has introduced the public to popular singers like Park Jimin (15&), Lee Hi, Baek Ah Yeon, Bernard Park and Akdong Musician.
The sixth and final season of ‘K-Pop Star‘ is scheduled to air this fall.
