Korean Cultural Centre India Announces Regions for the ‘KPOP Contest 2016’


It’s that time of the year which is awaited by many KPOP fans!

The Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) had announced the K-POP Contest 2016 last week building excitement among the many KPOP fans in India and now, they have announced the regions where the preliminary rounds will be held.

After the participants are shortlisted from the online entries, they are called to the specific regions and the winners of each region compete at the Grand Finale which will be held in Chennai this year. Winners at Grand Finale will then represent India at the ‘KPOP World Festival’ at Changwon, South Korea.

The 7 regions that will hold the preliminary rounds are:








KCCI has stated that they will be announcing the Northeast state which they will be visiting this year very soon. In the past they have visited Dimapur (2014) and Aizawl (2015). There is also no mention about dates and venues.

The KPOP Contest is part of the KPOP World Festival which is held every year in Changwon, South Korea, organised by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the support of many other organizations. It is a festival bringing in KPOP lovers all across the world who showcase their love for KPOP through dance or singing.
