‘Moon Lovers’ gorgeous cast includes Lee Jun Ki, IU, Baekhyun, Kang Ha Na, Seohyun and more!

'Moon Lovers' boasts of a gorgeous cast


Last year, it was revealed that Universal Studios was making a huge investment in a new Korean drama titled ‘Moon Lovers‘ (or ‘Lovers of the Moon’), a remake of the popular Chinese historical fusion drama ‘Scarlet Heart/Bu Bu Jing Xin‘ (2011). The Korean remake will be produced by director Kim Kyu Tae, who has directed several noted dramas like ‘That Winter, the Wind Blows‘, ‘IRIS‘, and ‘It’s Okay, That’s Love‘.

SBS have now confirmed that Lee Jun Ki and IU will be play the lead characters in the new romantic fantasy historical drama!

IU will be play the role of ‘Hae Soo‘, a 21st century girl who time skips back into the Goryeo dynasty and Lee Jun Ki will be taking on the role of ‘Wang So‘, the fourth son of Taejo Wang Gun of the Goryeo Dynasty, a cold man who learns to passionately love when he meets Hae Soo.

A representative from the drama’s production team had commented on the lead cast – “Could it get any better than this?”

SBS have also announced the rest of the cast which is star studded with some gorgeous faces of the industry!

Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Ji Soo and EXO’s Baekhyun have all been confirmed to be taking on the roles of imperial princes in the new romantic fantasy historical drama.

Kang Ha Neul will play the role of ‘Wang Wook‘ (the 8th prince) while Hong Jong Hyun will play the role of ‘Wang Yo‘ (the 3rd prince) and Baekhyun as ‘Wang Eun‘ (the 10th prince). Nam Joo Hyuk will play the role of ‘Wang Ook‘ (the 13th prince) and Ji Soo will play the role of ‘Wang Jung’ (the 14th prince).


The studded cast doesn’t end with Handsome princes, the drama will have the beauties with Kang Ha Na and Seohyun confirmed to take on the role of “fatally attractive princesses.

While Kang Ha Na and Seohyun will both be playing the role of princesses, Seohyun’s character will be the last princess ‘Woohee’ who is hiding her identity and has become a gisaeng with a motive.

The drama is reportedly filming with an estimated budget of 15 billion won, almost 13 million US dollars and will be completely pre-produced before it airs in the second half of 2016. The first filming session will begin on January 20.

With such a fabulous line up, we can’t wait to watch ‘Moon Lovers‘!
