The SBS period drama ‘Scarlet Heart: Ryeo‘ (also known as ‘Moon Lovers‘) has gained much interest ever since it’s announcement as it is a remake of the popular Chinese historical fusion drama ‘Scarlet Heart/Bu Bu Jing Xin‘ (2011).
It has now been made official that the highly anticipated SBS period drama will be airing its very first episode on August 29!
The production crew also revealed that the actors were diligently filming for the drama which will be a hundred percent pre-recorded. The crew stated that with the news of the airing date being confirmed confirmed for the end of August by SBS, the atmosphere on set has become even more warm and that they are working even harder to show a good drama.
The Korean remake will be produced by director Kim Kyu Tae, who has directed several notable dramas like ‘That Winter, the Wind Blows‘, ‘IRIS‘, and ‘It’s Okay, That’s Love‘.
The lovely IU will be taking on the role of the female lead ‘Hae Soo‘, a 21st century girl who time skips back into the Goryeo dynasty and the gorgeous Lee Jun Ki will be taking on the role of the male lead ‘Wang So‘, the fourth son of Taejo Wang Gun of the Goryeo Dynasty, a cold man who learns to passionately love when he meets Hae Soo.
The star studded cast also includes Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Ji Soo and EXO’s Baekhyun who will all be taking on the roles of imperial princes in the new romantic fantasy historical drama. The drama will also have Kang Ha Na and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun taking on the roles of “fatally attractive princesses.”
