Actor Lee Jae Hoon who made a blockbuster hit through tvN series ‘Signal’ recently flew to Tanzania, Africa to volunteer as a Ambassador of Oxfam Korea.
Lae Jae Hoon was appointed as promotional ambassador in last October for a relief and development organization Oxfam.
As a part of organization’s campaign Lee visited various refugee camps in Tanzania which includes famous Nyaragusu and Nduta camps where the victims of civil wars in the countries like Congo and Burundi are sheltered. Lee participated in the water pipe construction and installation of water taps to provide safe water for those who are in desperate need of drinking water.
It was the first time for Lee Jae Hoon to visit a refugee camp after becoming promotional ambassador of the Oxfam. Lee Jae Hoon shared how the basic needs of infrastructure were lacking in the camps. He said ‘It is fortunate that we are able to provide them with safe drinking water, food and sanitary facilities which are very basic needs’. He also requested for more people to join where even small help from each and every person can bring huge change in the lives of the refugees.
Oxfan is an international confederation consisting of 17 organizations working in approximately 94 countries worldwide to find solutions for poverty. With the ultimate goal to enable people exercise their rights and manage their own lives, the organization works together to achieve greater impact through collective efforts.
Oxfam is currently providing approximately 19 liters per refugee in Nyaragusu and Nduta camps. It also trains them in basic job skills such as baking, sewing, farming and manufacturing.
