Set in the 6th century kingdom of Seorabeol, capital of Silla dynasty, forthcoming KBS2 TV drama Hwarang:The Beginning has released its poster, individual stills and character profile of the star cast.
The drama which began filming just a few days back centers around Hwarang or “Flowering Knights” who were 6th century elite group of warriors. Hence the star cast is a melting pot of flower boys including Park Seo Joon, Park Hyung Sik, Choi Minho, Taehyung(V), Do Ji Han, Jo Yoon Woo, Ooon and Lee Kwangsoo amongst others. Go Ara plays the leading lady.
Park Seo Joon plays the character of a legendary warrior who is of low birth status, called Moo Myeong. He is a free-spirited soul who lives his life like a dog. He will share a love line with Go Ara’s character, Aro who brings about a feeling of protectiveness in Moo Myeong.
Aro is played by Go Ara, who is born to parents belonging to different social classes. She is a candid young woman with appearance of a commoner yet attitude of a nobility. She will be the center of attention between two men, Moo Myeong (Seo Joon) and King Jinheung (Hyung Sik).
Hyung Sik will play the character of an underground King Jinheung (Sam Maek-Jong) who joins Hwarang to polish his abilities and become a better ruler. He is a lonely soul who does not trust others, with a temperamental character, until he meets Aro.
Do Ji Han plays the character of Ban Ryoo. Born to a noble family in the Silla dynasty he is the traditional era’s bad boy. Being both good looking and intellectual, he is cold blooded and has thirst for power. However he also nurtures a soft spot for love.
Minho will be portraying the character of gallant young man, Soo-Ho who is born with a silver spoon. He is a leader of aristocrats being both skillful and ethical. Though labeled as a playboy, he is a romantic at heart who is devoted to his love for a woman and is always brimming with confidence.
BTS Taehyung (V) will portray the character of Hansung. He is the grandson of Seok Hyun Jae, who opposes Silla Dynasty’s Imperial Family. Youngest of the Hwarangs he is flowering knight with a bright sunny personality full of charms. However he will be embroiled into conflict amongst family and friends. This drama will also mark Taehyung’s debut as an actor.
Jo Yoon Woo will play the character of a flowering knight who is not just peculiar and secretive but also impolite.
It might be mentioned here that the drama shall be entirely pre-produced.
With a fair amount of idol and actor head turners from the industry, the drama is a hot pot of flowering boys, not to mention the dramatic warrior romance based storyline. That been said, with so much eye candy heart throbs in one place, we aren’t complaining!! (wink..wink..)
Overall the drama illustrates the story of life, growth, passion and love of these Knights who existed some 1500 years ago.
Hwarang is due to air somewhere around July 2016 on KBS2 TV!! Excited?? We are too!!
