Upcoming Dramas: August 2016

Kpop India

July is ending and so are some of our favourite dramas. Though most of us (read:me) are surviving on episodes of Doctors and Uncontrollably Fond, nothing can quite fill the hole of some amazing dramas. August is a new month, and against the backdrop of rain-filled seasons in India, we have some lovely Dramas coming up.

Jealousy Incarnate:

This new SBS drama has managed to snag Kong Hyo Jin, Cho Jung Suk and Ko Gyung Pyo. Scheduled to air on 17th August, this drama has an interesting plot line. Jealousy Incarnate follows the clash of a weather forecaster Pyo Nari (played by Kong Hyo Jin) and anchor Lee Hwa Shin (played by Cho Jung Seok) at their broadcasting station, and the love that forms between them. Are you excited for this? Because we are.

Moonlight Drawn By Clouds:

Following the slot previously filled by Beautiful Mind this drama will air on KBS2 channel. A refreshing historical drama, it follows the tale of Hong Ra-On who disguises herself as a man and counels men on dating. Incidentally, she ends up meeting and counseling the crown prince Hyom Yeong. Unaware of each other’s identities, they form a special interest in each other which tends to rile up the court eunuchs. With Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung, this is definitely going to satiate our historical drama thirst.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

This SBS drama is based on a Chinese novel ‘Bu Bu Jing Xin’ by Tong Hua, and will be airing on August 29th. Not much about this drama has been revealed so far, except that it holds time-traveling and supernatural elements. During a solar eclipse, Hae Soo travels back in time and lands in the Goryeo era. What follows is a huge debacle of ‘right person in the wrong time’ and Hae Soo manages to fall in love with the fourth prince Wang So, who makes everyone tremble in fear. The star studded cast of this show, is already making a lot of fangirls eagerly wait. With IU, Lee Jong Ki, Baekhyun (EXO), Kang Ha Neul and Hong Jong Hyun – this is definitely going to bag all of the ratings.

Cinderella and the Four Knights:

Releasing on August 12, this tvN drama is based on a book ‘Cinderella’s Four Knights’ by Baek Myo. Euun Ha Won is a college student that aims to become a veterinarian. Though she looks happy, she has a very isolated family life, as she lives with her father, step-mother and step-sister. After helping an old man on the road, she is suggested to live in a mansion with 4 other men, and to follow her dreams. Ha Won then goes on to live with these knights in the big mansion, and a hilarious romantic comedy follows. The drama stars Park So Dam as Eun Ha Won and Jung II Woo, Ahn Jae Hyun, Lee Jung Shin as the three cousins she lives with.

Our Gab Soon

The famous Song Jae Rim and Kim So Eun couple have confirmed to signing for this drama that will air later in August. The drama is supposed to touch upon different kinds of marriages in society- varying from love marriages and arranged marriages to divorced and live-in relationships. With a pair up that has already created a reputation for it’s burning chemistry, we are sure Jae Rim and So Eun can definitely pull it off.

Just writing this article has got my heart uneasy for the upcoming dramas, and absolutely excited to see some of or favorites back on the screen. Until then, have you watched the first few episodes of Lee Jong Suk’s new drama W: Two Worlds?
