Recently discharged actor Yoon Shi-Yoon is choosing his comeback drama carefully. It has been reported that he received an offer from JTBC for a saeguk drama, “Witch Bougum”. On February 16, Yoon Shi-Yoon’s representative confirmed the news saying that he indeed received the offer and they are viewing it in positive light.
The drama will be a fusion of fantasy romance from the Joseon era about a royal physician, Heo Jan. As the name suggest, we can expect witchcraft and spells, As far as the guess work suggests, it will be a personality clash between the scientific and not-so-scientific theories. Hence, the drama promises some hilarious encounters and a “opposite pole” love story.
This drama is set to be directed by PD Jo Hyun-tak who has many supernatural and period dramas in his resume. Dramas like JTBC’s Maids and tvN’s ghost-melo-romance Who Are You are some of his masterpiece.
Yoon Shi-Yoon was last seen in 2014 in the drama “Prime Minister & I” with Girls’ Generation YoonA. After the drama, he was immediately enlisted for his mandatory military service and was discharged recently on January 27 as a Marine after 21 months of service. Yoon Shi-Yoon never acted in a saeguk drama so far. Therefore, if he confirms this role, it will be refreshing to see him dressed in Joseon era costumes and talking in that dialect.
Witch Bougum is being considered for the Friday-Saturday slot following “Ms. Temper and Nam Jun Ki”, which is set to air after “Madame Antoine”.
